Personal Statement
My collegiate goals include attending a top liberal arts college pursuing a degree in theatre or English. I plan on being active on campus and would like to continue to pitch for a softball program that will allow me to be involved in theatre.
I am a well-rounded high school student, making the Principal's Honor Roll all nine marking periods of my HS career, while being a three sport athlete (softball, basketball, and swimming), and being seriously active in HS Musical Theater productions. Last fall, I was the female lead in the school musical (Crazy for You) and a member of the swim team. Because rehearsals and practice times frequently conflicted, I arranged independent pool time and often completed my swimming workouts alone. In addition, I still found time to get in my pitching workouts, up to three sessions per week. This year, I am again the female lead in the musical (The Drowsy Chaperone). In addition to theatre and athletics, I am also active in other performing and fine arts. As my academic record shows, this busy schedule has not prevented me from excelling academically, as well.
During basketball season, I continue to get in my pitching workouts. I realize the hard work and devotion that is necessary to be a top-flight pitcher. These workouts are often before school, during lunch, or after all practices are completed when the gym is available. Last year, our basketball season was extended into late March. We eventually won the 2015 NY State Class C Championship. I am a starter on this year's team as we try to repeat as State Champs.
For the past several years, I have played travel softball and summer basketball. In August, after travel softball ends, I attend a three week acting camp, Stagedoor Manor in Loch Sheldrake, NY.
