Having played baseball with my brother since we were 5 years old, I have spent a lot of my time surrounded by boys who are bigger and stronger than me. As a result, I have had to work harder to keep up with them. While I knew that I would never be as big as them, I could control the mental aspect of my game and my work ethic, and even though I played less than many of the boys, I stuck with baseball for almost 10 years. Through this experience I learned a lot about myself, my character and the game which I continue to bring each and every day to the softball field. The highlight of these 10 years for me was catching the game ending pop-up to win the 12u Western New York State Championships.
Switching to softball was one of the best decisions I have ever made. I now get to show my talents on the field surrounded by girls who I have more in common with. Although we had a disappointing season in my freshman year, I was honored to be named to the all conference first team. As a sophomore, we were hoping to bounce back, with a new and extremely talented coach had it not been for the virus which ended our season before it began. Through the disappointment, I have now been given a new drive to come back strong as a junior and have the best season of my life.
