Personal Statement
I am a 2014 senior at Ninnekah High School, Ninnekah, Oklahoma. I have played softball since I was 4 years old, and have imagined playing college softball ever since I was old enough to watch the world series. I've been a starter on our varsity team all four years: as a freshman I was starting left fielder, but played all outfield positions that year; played 2nd base as a sophomore; and was starting shortstop my junior and senior seasons. This season my BA was .444, my OBP was .492, my slugging percentage was .741, and my on-base slugging percentage was 1.232. I credit my varsity coach, Sonny Vermillion, with helping me to have a great senior season. I was elected team captain during my junior and senior seasons. I take pride in the fact that I was selected for the Southern Plains All-Conference Softball team as a starter for 3 years and honorable mention 1 year. Our conference has had several teams ranked in the top 10 in Class A and B fastpitch softball for the past several years, so I count it an honor to even be considered for this team. The highlights of this season include a game-winning home run and being the lead-off batter in the last inning of our all-conference game, starting a rally to come from behind and putting us in a position to win the game. In the classroom I push myself as well; I hold a 3.9 GPA, am currently ranked 2nd in my class, on the Honor Roll, and take AP courses. I look forward to being able to play the game I love, learn how to be a better ball player, and gain the education I am going to need in order to become the person I'm supposed to be.
