Personal Statement
My name is Rachel Seneca, and I’m in the graduating class of 2024 at Bishop McDevitt High School. I play for Central PA Krunch 18u White, and my positions are shortstop and third base. My mom first introduced me to the sport when I was 5 years old, and I instantly loved it. I started playing travel softball for Central PA Krunch my first year of 10U and played there for four years. I then played for NYFA Polar Elite for four years. Softball has taught me how to be resilient and overcome setbacks. I’ve learned that I need to put in hard work to reach my goals. In addition to regular team practices and strength training sessions, I regularly hit off the tee and do live hitting and fielding at a local field. I also enjoy improving my mental game by watching videos, reading articles, visualizing my success, and improving my mental warm up. My goals for softball are to be a leader and top player in high school and compete on the collegiate level.
Although softball is extremely important to me, school is and always will be my first priority. I take pride in my school work and expect only the best from myself. I want to graduate in the top 5% of my high school class, and I have been in the top 8 of my class since freshman year. I take all honors and AP classes. I want to go to college and earn a degree that will allow me to work in the medical field, specifically in neurology.
Outside of softball, I also play field hockey, participate in multiple clubs, and help with the local rec association’s softball clinics.
