Lindsey Settles '17 Recruiting Profile

      I started playing softball, or I guess it would be tee-ball, when I was 2 years old. Instantly, I knew this was going to be my sport. Aside from picking the flowers in the outfield and the smiles after receiving the ground ball and not knowing what to do with it. To me the best thing about this sport is the feelings you get. The anxiety, butterflies, nerves, and fear, they are all what makes softball THE sport. The diving catch you made or the winning hit you got is what makes all of the pain and practices worth it. 

     What sets me apart from other athletes is my willingness to work hard and my leadership qualities. Coming in as Freshman in High School and being the starter pitcher for team really opened my eyes. It made me realize that you have to support your team and tell them they are doing a good job even when they are not, because encouraging is what is going to win you the game and keep your teammates working hard and not giving up. I'm a hard worker not only on the field but also in the classroom. I have always grown up knowing that grades is what is going to get me somewhere in this world. So I do everything in my ability to make that 100 on a test. If I do find myself in a rough spot on or off the field, I do everything that I can to get back to where I need to be.

      My college goals are to major in Psychology and lead that into Law. Growing up my parents always told me to go to college and get an education so I can do whatever I wanted to. Of course though, back then, I wanted to be a Princess and thought that I would be going to a castle instead of college. Now, as I grow older and realize what my parents where talking about, I see that I do have the potential to be anything I want to be and that is what I intend to do by going to college. But I would love to play a sport that I love while receiving my education.
