Hello, my name is Penelope (Penny) Ramirez, I am a student at St. Joseph Catholic School in Bryan, TX. Upon admission to College, I plan to major in History. The purpose of this statement is to express my desire and passion to pursue softball at the next level. I have been playing travel softball since the age of 10 after getting the "softball bug" playing softball in our local city league. Since that first travel softball season in 10U, I have been focused on practice and being the best student I can be. I have been blessed to be part of travel softball organizations that value fundamentals while stressing the importance of practice away from your team. I have also been blessed with parents, coaches and teachers who push me past my limits and to value what can be accomplished from learning from our failures. My parents and coaches and teachers are who I look up to as role models as they are providing me with tools to be successful when softball and school are over.
My ultimate goal is to play softball at the college level. I am not overly concerned about the division level; I just want to be on the field with a team competing. I understand that academics are the most essential element of college. However, being part of a team creates lifelong bonds, teamwork and character that enhances academics because it has taught me to work hard for everything that is important. By enrolling in dual credit courses my junior and senior years in High School, I will prepare myself for the academic rigors of College. By pushing myself in the classroom, I am preparing myself for the softball field and ultimately for life.
Thank you for taking the time to read my profile.
