My name is Mayra Camacho and I am currently a sophomore at the International School of Americas in the Magnet Program, which is located at Robert E. Lee High School. I started to play softball when I was ten years old and fell in love with the sport ever since. At one point I struggled, but I knew the more I practice the better I would get. With hard work, I earned a spot on my school’s varsity softball team as a freshman as well as a starting spot on a 18U select team.
Softball is my passion; however, academics is my number one priority. My hope is to earn a softball scholarship or an academic scholarship or both. I would love to major in international affairs because I feel the relationship between the United States and other countries is very important. I love to be involved in my community. I have volunteered at St. PJ’s foster care organization, the Windcrest Little League, the Miracle Little League, and the Salvation Army. I also took part in an I am Nuru walk for the Women’s affect, in support of women in Africa. This past year, I have received the Heart Award from my softball coaches, which is an award given to the softball player that the coaches feel showed hard work, determination, commitment, dedication, and a positive attitude the entire season. I am looking forward of being part of the NCSA Organization so I can have bright future.
