Personal Statement
I enjoy camping, fishing, boating, surfing and wake boarding. I have a passion for reading and writing. I am looking for a college that will encourage me to be the best person I can possibly be, whether it be in the classroom or on the field.
When I step onto the softball field it is like time freezes. My mind is completely numb. Not the numbness people might associate with ice cream or surgery, it is deeper than that. Softball gives me the numbing sensation that makes me feel like anything and everything is possible. Nothing can stop me from achieving my all time greatness. Walking up to the umpires is the time to show who I really am; I introduce myself and tell them thanks. The key is to be the first team up to the plate, the umpires do not have to wait on you and it does not give the other team the chance to bond with the umpire while the other team is still getting their lineup ready- be prompt and productive, friendly yet fierce, not cocky but confident. This is the time to make them tremble in their cleats and wish they were playing a different team. I focus on timing, whether I am on offense or defense, studying the other teams speed helps me grasp their timing. Bat speed, feet speed, reaction time. All of it is important in order for me to apprehend their timing. Being behind the plate at all times is a blessing and a curse. I have the privilege of seeing the entire field; nobody else gets that advantage. I get to connect with everyone; whether they are on the field or off the field- it does not matter. I set the tone of the entire game and I will not settle for anything less than greatness.
Taking in all of the things on the field, from the dirt to the sweat. I love every single thing about softball. The bruises, cuts, scrapes, sunburns, blisters, sore arms and legs. That blister means I hit as hard as I could and got on base because I gave it my all. Was it worth it? I wouldn't trade that blister for the world. Every single thing that happens on that field is do or die. As long as I give it 110%, I will never die.
I have a love for softball that is one in a million. I strive to play the game I love at the collegiate level.
