Personal Statement

I have been blessed to have played softball at the collegiate level already this past year. This past year I played at Madison College in Madison, WI. It has been a great experience. I have learned many things to help me become not only successful on the diamond but as an overall person as well. To play at the collegiate level you learn how much you love the game. The strenuous five hour practices. Off-season workouts and the continuous double header daily games define who you are. College ball weaves out the ones who aren’t determined or who want the “fun” side of college. For me I learned how much it takes not only physically, but mentally as well to play at the next level.

I began my season as a freshman pitcher and had six other competitors fighting for that number one spot. In the end after giving a 110% percent of my effort I earned the number one spot. I eared conference and region honors and broke school records. We as a team broke the school record for the most wins in school history and were two games away from nationals. My team I had at Madison College was the best team I have ever had. We were a close team and had no drama. Something I have never experienced when playing the game competitively.  This team was special because we all had to go through those butt kicking practices and workouts. But, in the end we came together to accomplish what our hearts wanted for that year. Yes we came short of going to nationals for the first time in school history but we in the end did more than that. We all learned numerous life lessons, and what it takes from inside of you to accomplish things we thought weren’t accomplishable.

I learned in particular how to become more confident in the person I am. This gave me the courage and strength to succeed in making lifelong friends, getting a job at the college, earning academic honors such as; making the Dean’s list, becoming a Phi Theta Kappa member, making Academic All-American, and earned to be named Co-MVP of my team. My team, my coaches, and playing softball at the collegiate level taught me how to become the person I am and how that person inside me can dream  about anything I want to do in my future as I know I can by just being me.
