I have played softball for 10 years and have loved every minute of it. Along with softball, I have played volleyball for 4 years as a starter and I have played basketball for 6 years, also as a starter. My freshman year I wanted to be the athlete that played every sport and played them well. At the begining of my sophomore year, I gave up that dream for a better one. Instead of playing different sports all year round and being good, I decided that I would only play two sports and be great at one of them. The one I choose to be great at is softball. This meant I would need to give up basketball even though I loved it. I couldn't be happier with my decision. I promised myself that giving up a sport I loved would be worth something and it truly has been.
I have been with my same club team for 5 years. Even though we didn't win as much as we had hoped to, for me it wasn't about winning as much as it was about learning how to play the game and meeting people that would help me be the best player that I could be. In those 5 years, I have played with many different girls and coaches. I believe this has helped me become a better teammate and student of the game. I started out as the new kid on the team that didn't know any of the girls. Many of them had been playing together for years. I have now grown to be one of the leaders and have been that loudest one on the fence cheering my teammates on through winning and losing, good play and bad. If you ask my teammates they would tell you that through it all I have thier back. No game is won or lost by one player or one play. I will always be there to pick up a player who is down and cheer for the one that made the great play. My coach would tell you that I play with heart and that I practice as hard as I play. My coach know's I am always willing to go where they need me wether that be the mound, 1st base or outfield, I will always give it 100%. My freshman season ended with me being voted the MVP of my team.
In the long run, my goal is to become a teacher so that I can help young kids find the love of learning that I have. I want to be the teacher that not only makes a difference in the classroom but in the lives of my students. I hoping to find a school that allows me to blend my love for softball and my hopes of being a great teacher. I hope to find a school where everyone knows everybody and where I can make friends for a lifetime.
