Personal Statement
I've been an athlete for as long as I can remember. Basketball, soccer, softball, volleyball... any sport with a ball really! I love the team atmosphere and challenging myself to get better every day. I have learned that if you work hard, you can achieve your dreams and have a lot of fun along the way.
When it came time to narrow down the field, basketball and softball rose to the top and I was looking forward to my high school career. Then, in the fall of my freshman year, I tore my ACL. I learned so much from suffering that injury. Patience and discipline are surely at the top of that list, but being out for 6 months also made me realize that softball is my true passion and that every game and every practice is truly a blessing and should never be taken for granted. I'm grateful every time I get to step on the field with my teammates and I dream of playing at the next level in college with the best of the best.
That injury kindled another dream in me, and that is to become a surgeon. I want to become a surgeon so I can help people not only fix, but recover, from their injuries like my surgeons did for me. I don't know if orthopedics are in my future, but I do know that I'm fascinated with the way the human body works and I'm excited to attend medical school and see where that education will lead.
Work hard and have fun! I carry that mindset with me every day, in school and athletics, and I look forward to having the opportunity to experience the life of a college student athlete.
