Personal Statement

I have been playing basketball for over six years. I have learned that playing basketball requires great communication, hard work, and trust. Each team member is important. If we work together as a team we can be unstoppable. I have been a part of a team that has lost every game, and I have been a part of a team that excelled and won every game. Through this process, I have learned that winning isn’t everything.  My teammates are my friends. I have enjoyed being a part of a team that cares about each teammate. I have volunteered nearly 50 hours as an assistant coach for the Stapley Junior High 7th Grade girls basketball team. I enjoyed teaching the girls and encouraging them to work together.  I feel that coaching helped me to realize how important it is to listen and to be patient. The 7th grade team was undefeated and won the City Championship. I'm looking forward to coaching there next year as well. It was a great opportunity to give back to my community. It’s important to always do your best.  My parents have taught me to work hard and to never give up. They have encouraged me to excel in academics as well.  I enjoy learning new things. Math is one of my favorite subjects. I am determined to always do my best. I look forward to the possibility of playing college basketball and earning a degree.
