Hello coaches, athletic staff, and fellow athletes. My name is Isabel, but most people call me Izzy. I am currently a junior in high school and have aspirations of becoming an athletic trainer or physical therapist. I have been playing basketball since I was in the 2nd grade. I have competed in various leagues, including Catholic Youth Organization (CYO), AAU, Middle and High School.
I have always been passionate about the game of basketball, on and off the court. On the court, I have been recognized by my coaches for my strong defensive skills, high basketball IQ, ability to adapt and perform under pressure. Off the court, I have been able to give back to my community as a volunteer coach for a youth basketball camp, and as the Athletic Commissioner at my high school. In addition, I was instrumental in developing the Women's Basketball program at my high school by recruiting a coach and gathering players; this is something I am very proud of, as my school had not had a Women's Basketball team in the previous 5 years. If I had not taken initiative to get a team started, I would not have been able to play high school basketball.
I strongly believe that without basketball, I would not be as confident in myself. Before I started competing, I was shy and kept to myself, but since finding basketball, I have found my voice. I have become a leader and a team player. These attributes I carry with me in all that I do, which I feel makes me an asset to any program I am fortunate enough to join.
