Basketball has been a highly influential part of my life for the past six years. While I have participated in different sports, basketball remains my passion. It has taught me how to be a leader as well as a team player. It has been a positive outlet in my life and keeps me striving to be my best. As my high school career is coming to an end, I aspire to continue competing in the sport I love at a collegiate level.
I am an aggressive and determined player who excels in adversity. I was chosen to be captain of our varsity team in my sophomore and junior year. My sophomore year was pivotal in my basketball career, which required grit and perseverance. This was a building year for our team as three of our starting seniors graduated and a fourth player was out for the season. With our season in jeopardy, due to a lack of players, as a captain, I motivated our remaining players to be strong in the face of this adversity. This inspired me to dig deep and play with everything I had, no matter how outnumbered we were.
As a captain during my junior season, I was our top scorer and held the position of most steals on our team. I helped lead our team to third place in our 1A District 7 playoffs. Over the past three years of my basketball career, I have been recognized with various athletic and academic awards, proving myself to be a leader in the classroom and on the court.
