Personal Statement

Playing Varsity Basketball with my older sister during my freshman year was the highlight of my high school career. After my sister graduated from high school I faced many obstacles throughout my sophomore season and I was given the opportunity to step up and grow as a student-athlete. My sophomore season the team had many missing roles and as a team captain, I improved my point guard, shooting guard, and defensive skills in order to make up for our lost players. This experience brought the biggest challenge I have ever had to face as a varsity basketball player. I struggled with the pressures of being a star player and I was constantly weighed down knowing that the success of the team was on my shoulders. This opportunity allowed me to improve my mental health and build my confidence on the court. I also learned to support my teammates and lead the team even in times of desperation.

I have been playing basketball for as long as I can remember and it has had a substantial impact on who I am and how I treat others. I have learned the value of commitment, leadership, sacrifice, and teamwork throughout my many years of club and school basketball. I have always valued my education to a great extent and I hope to find a school that fits my athletic and academic expectations. I believe I not only have the talent and basketball skills to compete for a college team, but the work-ethic, drive, and leadership to make an immediate impact on your program. As a three-sport athlete and team captain I know that I have what it takes to make a crucial difference on your team.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
