Personal Statement

To say that I love the game of basketball would be an understatement.  I received a pink basketball and a plastic Playskool hoop for my 2nd birthday, and I haven’t stopped playing, learning and loving the game of basketball since that day.

Sports are an everyday part of my family’s life.  My grandparents, father, siblings, aunts and uncles played organized sports and we love recreational sports as well.  From basketball, volleyball, football and soccer to skiing, fishing, surfing and swimming; enjoying family time is important.  I’ve been attending basketball camps at colleges and universities since I was in 2nd grade.  I started playing competitive AAU basketball with club teams in 4th grade and am now in my eighth year.

The bond I have formed with my teammates over the years in both high school and club basketball have led to some great friendships.  The coaches have taught me different aspects of the game along with many valuable life lessons.  The hours in the classroom, gym and the weight room have taught me the benefits of hard work and discipline.  The excitement of competing and working with teammates is what I enjoy the most.  Learning new plays, seeing the court, reading defenses, and working with my teammates to accomplish our goals.

I lead the league this year in assists & free throw percentage, second in steals & blocks and third in scoring, field goals & double doubles.  I work hard in the classroom, enjoy my volunteer work and believe in a good balance between school, sports and family.  Basketball isn’t just in my heart; it is in my soul.  I feel all the qualities that I possess both on and off the court would be an asset to any team!

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
