Throughout high school, we was always asked, what we wanted to do when we finally graduated. And with much thought, I came to a conclusion that playing basketball is what I wanted to do, aside from going towards my career goal. Reaching this goal will have to include much hard work, mental toughness, discipline, and a great attitude. I hope to go far, not only in my basketball career, but also as a person. I hope to grow my skills, my self-confidence, and my personality through an amazing experience.
With that being said, here is why I make a good candidate for your team. Although I only played basketball here in Hawai'i, I have encountered many coaches, all with different coaching styles. Being able to adapt to each and everyone of them is a key characteristic on why I should be on your team. I also catch on with everything pretty quickly, and I will get the job done when you ask me too, without hesitation. I of course make mistakes, but I also shake off those mistakes fairly quickly, and not let it get the best of me. Also, my attitude is always positive because growing up with a parent as a coach who really looks at a players attitude, I think it helped me learn that attitude is a very important key detail, in an athlete. As a person, I think of myself as really easy going and willing to help whoever is in need. I love a good joke here and there but when its time for business, I push all the giggles aside and work on my technique and work with my team.
On the other hand academically, I think that I have been getting really good with time management, especially with a busy schedule. I also have been challenging myself with various classes that my school provides. Living in Hawai'i, being tied to your culture is a good thing to do because you really want to know who you are. Which is why Hawaiian Language is a really important class for me and Hawaiian Dance. Academically, i " Kulia i ka nu'u" which means strive for the summit, and this past year I really have been doing that, by bringing home a 3.5 GPA and above. Which is really great to me and my family.
