Personal Statement

I started playing basketball when I was 4 years old and have loved it ever since.  I began playing AAU when I was in 6th grade and that was when I started playing harder and better.  Before I started playing for Lady Lightning, I did not take basketball as serious as I do now.  Now I try to play as much as I can whether that is just shooting around or training. As a freshman starting on Varsity I have never let my age be an excuse for mistakes. On the court, I try to play harder and more competitive than everyone else.  I would love the opportunity to play in college because I work hard and love to play this game.  I always play my hardest in every game and practice because I want to play basketball for a long time and learn from some of the best coaches. I believe that as a leader it is important to not define my roll on the team by a position. Having the ability to assume many rolls and positions gives my team a better opportunity to be successful and helps me to improve as a player. If I am not the scorer in a game then I will be the assist leader, or the player getting the blocks and tips and working to box out the player closest to me for a rebound. Playing college basketball is a great way for me to grow for my future in my professional life. Just as I work hard in basketball I do for my grades as well. I will always be a part of a team and I believe that through practice and by being the best student I can be is the best example I can set for others to follow.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
