My name is Olivia Jones. I am a 2026 5’8 shooting guard. I am a women’s basketball player. Six words that are so crazy compared to the toddler girl on the driveway trying to manage a heavy basketball who just wanted to play and be competitive. Now I am a young woman trying to get my foot in the door of a college that will give me an education and if possible, let me keep playing basketball. The magnitude of this is not lost and I feel this every time I step on the court for my last years of high school. Knowing that I might, by some chance, be close enough at this opportunity is what motivates me to work in the classroom and on the court towards a basketball or academic scholarship.
I have been a Varsity starter for my 4A high school team both my freshman and sophomore years. Accomplishing this at a younger age has helped to give me a maturity beyond what I would have had otherwise. I was proudly awarded All Conference and Co-MVP for this my sophomore season, two honors that were voted on by area coaches and my own teammates. I could not be prouder of these because I think they represent a recognition of the strong defensive player and consistent scorer I am, and my court awareness to make opportunities but also my ability to be a good role model and support for my teammates. Playing school and AAU ball the last 6 years, has taught me more about who I want to be as a teammate and person and the culture I want to be a part of. I want to know that how I play ball is an extension of the person I am. I am committed to improving my skills by my off-season training where I am a part of two different programs.
I am proud to be a part of the Student Athletic Council where I can be a positive role model in my community as a student athlete. I am also a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. I am an honors student maintaining a high GPA, a member of BETA club, and a member of my local church and youth group. I was also honored this basketball season to be awarded All-Academic Conference. My academic goals for high school are to continue taking AP courses and advanced courses to graduate with Academic Honors. I want to major in an area of Business and play basketball in the best competitive environment for my level.
