I used to play two sports, softball and basketball. Just this year, I quit softball so I could focus on basketball and spend more time in the weight room along with speed and agility drills. Basketball is something I want to play all my life. I want to go to college and be the best student athlete I can be. I'm always going to work hard on and off the court . Also I will always be very coachable on the court. I am looking forward to the next 3 years academically to improve my class status. After having a phone call from a recruiter who told me and my family that school is just as important, if not more important than being able to play the game of basketball it kind of woke me up. It taught me that I need to work extremely hard in high school to get better grades.
When I was younger, I used to go down in my basement, turn on an NBA game and just dribble a basketball so I could work on my handles. I think that was a turning point in my career as a basketball player. Early on as a point guard I wanted to be able to handle the ball really well and I can do that. Then I realized shooting and especially from distance due to my lack of strength, was a weakness in my game, so I worked in the gym, outside in driveway at my house and got better.
Getting along with teammates is also something I strive to be great at. Every team I have ever been on, I tried to be supportive and have my teammates back. The best friends that I have now are from the relationships I developed on and off the court. I will continue to work hard in school, and basketball to be able to play at any college level.
