Personal Statement
My name is Claire Truesdell and I am in the class of 2025. I began playing basketball at an early age, and quickly realized it was a passion I wanted to pursue at the most competitive level possible. Playing college ball is a goal I aspire to achieve, and I pray God provides me with the opportunity to fulfill my dream. With sacrifice, commitment, faith, and incredibly hard work, I look forward to making this dream my reality.
While I love every facet of the game, my defense is something I am known for, and take great pride in. I love the intensity of defense, diving on the floor for a loose ball, pressuring an opponent, and relentlessly pursuing the ball for my team. I strive to be a strong leader for my team, setting the tone at practices and games with my actions and words. I see great value in lifting up teammates, encouraging teammates on the court and from the bench, jumping to the front of the line for practice drills, and pushing hard to finish every conditioning drill first. I am very coachable, eager to learn, and can quickly apply constructive direction from my coaches during a practice or game. Although my dominant hand is my right, I am very skilled with my left hand and love being able to confuse defenders as to which hand they should favor defensively.
In school, I work hard to maintain a 3.8 GPA, am an "A" honor roll student, and am enrolled in AP classes. I am a student-elected Roland-Story class ambassador and am on the Roland-Story student council. I also play the flute in our school band, and enjoy being a part of the Harvest Church youth group.
