Basketball has been a big part of my life ever since I first picked it up in 1st grade. To me, basketball has never been just another sport. Basketball has helped me improve my confidence both on and off the court, form close bonds with friends, and challenge myself in ways that require both hard work and devotion. My mom especially has been a major influence to me, and was the first person to get me interested in playing basketball. Her hard work in high school paid off in college where she played women’s basketball. She still remains such a big inspiration in my life today.
I am looking for a college that supports me both academically and athletically. I understand the value of hard work as a student-athlete. In the classroom, I am just as diligent as I am on the court. I take my schoolwork very seriously and of great importance. My athleticism and skills are also beneficial to me as a player. I have very good endurance as I run long distance in track. In basketball, I have the ability to shut down offensive players on defense, shoot the ball with confidence, and can protect the ball when dribbling through and around the defense. Teamwork is also very important to me. I believe that it takes all five on the court to win a ball game. Apart from this, I always strive to get better as an individual. I work on basketball in games, practices, and in my own free time. All in all though, I am a very devoted, and dedicated player, and would love to play on your team!
