Personal Statement
My name is Naila Newman. I have played organized basketball since I was in the 3rd grade and have a love for the sport. I am currently a junior at Rockville High School, in Rockville MD, and have a strong desire to continue to play basketball at the collegiate level to compete against others who enjoy the game as much as I do.
I represent myself well on and off the court. I take my academics seriously as I currently have a 3.95 GPA while playing for my high school and AAU team. I am passionate about this sport and always work hard to get better. I have been a starter on my High school basketball team since my Freshman year. I am also coachable and committed to perfecting my skills so I can be the best person and player I can be.
I understand the importance of maintaining healthy relationships with my teammates so that everyone plays well together. This year, I was selected as one of the captains for my high school team. As one of the captains, I worked with my coaches and teammates to help lead our team to a shared State championship (first time in 33 years), along with 3A/2A Division champions and 3A Regionals.
