I hope to get a degree in which I will get to work with athletes in a competitive environment someday. I find I am a better student when I need to balance my studies and sports. All through school I played every sport that was available to me. I have competed in volleyball, softball, track, cross country and even junior high football, but basketball was and is my passion. I started playing basketball in kindergarten. (Our school has an excellent youth program for kids in grades K-6.) From the very first day of practice I was hooked. When I got into the 5th grade I was diagnosed with ADD and was put on the Autism spectrum which finally helped explain why I was so easily distracted and socially awkward. The basketball court was the one place I fit in and it was nice to hear people cheering for me and my teammates and congratulating us after games. My varsity basketball team is quite special. We have grown up together in our little town and the 7 of us have played together since kindergarten. After elementary ball ended, we played junior high ball together and spent 5 years playing AAU travel ball together. The other starters and I are all equally talented and could throw up big stats, but we have always played as a TEAM. We play for the success of the TEAM not the individual. All 5 of us were awarded post season honors since our freshmen and sophomore seasons (2nd team all-conference, first team all-conference, elite team,....) and our team won our school's first regional championship in 27 years in 2019. We were on our way to our second when the season was cancelled due to Covid in 2020. We are excited to go further this year. I think my TEAM mentality makes me a good candidate for any college team. I also think my work ethic and love for the game of basketball is undeniable. I will do whatever it takes to ensure the success of my team, my family. What makes me different than other recruits? I am not sure. I do know I am proud of my moral character. I will never talk down about or judge another person. I remember my younger days and would not ever make someone else feel "less than". I am great at time management. I have a job, go to school, participate in several sports and volunteer on the weekends (mowing lawns, shoveling driveways, weeding gardens, grocery shopping, etc...) for the elderly all while still maintaining my grade point average. I find I do best when I keep busy. To wrap things up, I just want to say again how much I love the game of basketball and it would be an HONOR to keep playing after high school. (PS My profile says I'm a power forward, which is the position I played all through high school because at 5'7 1/2", not only was I the tallest player on our small team of mostly guards, I was the strongest. I just want you to know I am an excellent ball handler and a great outside shooter who is fully capable of playing guard Just give me the chance!.)
