My name is Avery Dilsizian, Class of 2024, and I play at Grosse Ile High school. The first time I stepped foot on a court when I was 8, I knew I wanted to play college basketball.
I’ve played basketball since the 3rd grade, and I have loved it ever since. I have played on many different AAU teams and met tons of amazing people that have helped me to become the player I am today. (Elite, Downriver MWA, The Factory.) It has not been an easy journey though, it has been hard with many obstacles to overcome, including my ACL tear las year. This past summer, I worked almost every day to get better, and I worked with amazing coaches and trainers. Bottom line, I have always loved to work hard and get better.
When I heard I tore my ACL in November of my junior year, I was crushed. Basketball has always been my thing and I enjoyed every early morning AAU tournament, or any chance to get in the gym. It hasn't been all bad though, it has taught me many lessons, and given me many opportunities to see basketball from a whole new perspective. Due to my injury, I have helped my program by assisting in practices, managing substitutions, helping with in game strategies, and aiding the JV team during games. I can’t wait to get back on the court. I love being around the game of basketball. It has also shown how much I love this sport. I would love to continue to expand my basketball knowledge and be able to play at the next level. I am positive nobody will work harder or love the game more than me.
