Basketball has been a passion of mine from a very young age. I've played competitive ball since 3rd grade, and have always wanted to play in college. I lettered my freshman year, and started Varsity every game of my Sophomore year. During my Sophomore year, I made 1st Team All-District, and 2nd Team All-Conference. I led my team in scoring, rebounding and I was our teams leading 3-point shooter. During the summer, I spent several hours improving my skills by attending a summer weights class and playing in several tournaments with my AAU team.
Unfortunately, in September of 2016 I tore my ACL. Throughout the next several months I learned a great deal about myself and ways to improve my game. By going through physical therapy, I have had to face many physical and mental struggles that I have been able to overcome. These struggles have made me stronger as a person and player. I honestly believe that there is no obstacle that could stand in my way; this has made me realize with hard work and determination I can better myself in any situation. Sitting on the bench this past season has helped me see the court in a different way, and it has helped me become a better leader for my team. Although I couldn't help my team on the court I found ways to help them off, such as, being more encouraging and uplifting to them. I'm incredibly excited for what the next year holds for me, and can't wait to further improve my skills.
I predominately play small forward, but I have had opportunities to play all positions on the floor both on my school and AAU team. This enables me to drive the lane and shoot, but also post up if needed. Being able to play both inside and outside has helped me in my game, and I constantly work to improve on the skills I have.
I believe I would be a great addition to any team because of my desire to work hard not only on the court but off the court as well. I pride myself in working just as hard in the classroom as I do during a game or practice. I lead by example in all areas of my life and when I commit myself to something, I commit fully.
