I am very excited about a possibility of playing basketball in college and hope that I will find a school that will be a good fit both for academics and basketball. I have played basketball since the second grade on many teams and have played a total of over 500 games that I can count, which helped me gain lots of confidence and that is probably most important when you are in the game.
I believe that my key skill is the ability to shoot the basketball, especially from the outside of the three point range and my wish is to be part of a college program that will use that and that I will be able to work with the coach that will appreciate a player that moves well without the basketball, sets picks and is always willing to shoot the basketball, cause shooters have to shoot.
I also consider myself to be a team player as I enjoy very much making passes that put my teammates in the best position to score or at least to stretch or break the defense so that the next pass is to an open player. Sometimes coaches will tell me “Ana, no more football passes” but I can’t help it if I see an open teammate running down the court or cutting to the basket…sometimes they catch and sometimes they don’t but my hope is that in college I will have teammates that can catch my passes easily.
Related to academics, I am not sure yet…people say that I am artistic, which is why I ended up in LaGuardia High School, but I have yet to figure if my field of study will be related to art/design or do something completely different, because I like history and politics as well. What's important to me is to be in a good school that will inspire me to pursue an academic field of study that will bring the best in me.
