Sydnee Thompson '24 Recruiting Profile

I started my basketball journey when I was five years old. I fell in love with the sport when I first saw my older brother play and decided that this was the sport for me. I have always wanted to play at a higher level because I have a strong mindset and competitiveness that motivates me to go above and beyond. I have strong defense,ball-handling skills, and a high basketball IQ, allowing me to be an accessory on the court. Being a team leader has taught me to be stern and lead by example while ensuring I don't discourage my teammates. I am the most valuable player I can be. I must work hard to improve my basketball skills because I feel like there's always something to improve on until I master it fully. Aside from playing Basketball for most of my life, playing AAU and High School Flag-Football contributed to my athleticism by helping me gain more agility while also helping me acquire new skills physically and mentally. Playing Basketball, I've learned that I'm very emotional and a perfectionist. When I have an off game, I tend to get down on myself because I know that I'm a much better player than I showed, but having those traits also motivates me to do better and push myself to reach my highest potential. I also aim to maintain my high GPA off the court because academics are crucial to my journey. I desire to attend a college where I can push myself in the classroom and on the basketball court. I plan to find the right college match where I can succeed and showcase my academic and Basketball skills.
