Kaitlyn Van Derve...Personal Statement
My name is Kaitlyn Van Derveer. I am a 16 year old Sophomore at Northwest Guilford High School in Greensboro, North Carolina. This was my second year playing for my school's JV team and we had a very successful year, with a 18-2 record. I finished my season with an average of 9.9 pts, 3 assists, 4 steals, and 2 rebounds per game.
I have lived in the Oak Ridge, NC area my whole life. I live with my parents, brother, and 2 dogs. When I am not playing basketball for my school, I am playing for my AAU team. I have been playing basketball since 2nd grade and I am hoping to be able to play at the collegiate level while continuing my education.
When I am not playing for my school or my AAU team, I am training and working to improve upon my skill set. I am working on strengthening my ball handling skills, and shooting skills. I am a very coachable player and learn from my mistakes to make myself a better player.
In the classroom, I am taking Honors classes, and hard to maintain my high GPA.
