Hello coaches, my name is Mackenzie Schirg and thanks for taking the time to look at my profile! I am going into my senior year at Lackawanna Trail High School, which is in the northeastern part of Pennsylvania. I have played and had success at many other sports, including field hockey, track and field, golf and softball, but nothing compares to my love for basketball. I have played basketball for my school since first grade and for AAU and club teams since I was in 5th grade. Although I missed a lot of summer activities due to the commitment of these programs, I wouldn't change a thing. I know I want to continue to play basketball in college. I'm looking for a school that will fit my need to compete on the court, with my desired to learn in the classroom. Although I am not completely sure of my future career, I am interested in psychology, social work and deaf studies (possibly becoming ASL certified) as well as physical education. I performed well academically and athletically while in high school. I was recently awarded All-State Academics for the 2022-2023 field hockey season. I have taken several honors courses while in high school. I have also been blessed with various athletic achievements, which I have included in the Athletics section of my profile. This most recent high school basketball season, I broke my schools single season scoring record with 345 points. I'm hoping to beat the 3 points record this season (I missed it by 6 points last year). My coaches tell me that I am a very versatile player. I have solid ball handling skills to play point guard; a strong shot to play on the outside; and the size and strength to play underneath. All of these positions I play frequently in AAU and on my high school team. I would love to play for a school that pushes me to be my best both on the court and in the classroom.
