Personal Statement
Growing up with a parent who played basketball in college, sports have been a part of my whole life. After starting with softball, I was introduced to basketball during Kindergarten. Basketball quickly became my favorite sport. As I have grown, so has my understanding of the game. My dad believes in playing with as much mental game as physical. Having multiple siblings, my parents and I created a special time for us by watching my basketball film, leading me to have a strong basketball IQ and a propensity to think the game.
The activity of playing multiple sports, basketball, softball and volleyball, not only gives me an outlet for attention deficit, but also has teaches me life lessons such as resiliency and perseverance. I have learned perseverance by overcoming lanky middle school years, and fighting through minor injuries and resiliency through less than ideal coaching conditions. My High School program has had five coaches in the last four years, each having their own strengths. This experience has prepared me to cooperate and receive instruction from multiple sources and to always find something good in every situation. My hope is that all these experiences, combined with my faith and my parents’ support, will help me reach my goal of Medical School and eventually becoming a Family Practice Doctor like my dad.
