Shamya McDowell '19 Recruiting Profile

I believe I am a very strong and smart player. I am very coachable and I am a fast learner both on the court and in the classroom. I enjoy leading and uplifting my teammates and just people in general. I’ve always been told I have an old soul and very mature for my age which is why I took on leadership with Student Council and the National Honor Society. I enjoy making things happen and seeing people enjoy them. I like challenging myself with new opportunities and responsibilities. 

What I want most in a program is to become a more successful person on and off the court. I want to be able to take lessons I learn on the court and use them in life and vice versa. Since I’ve been at Andress, we’ve gone farther than any previous team in school history and it showed me that a team’s chemistry and bond will take them so much further than just offense alone. I want to continue this in college.
