A lot of kids my age fell in love with the game when they were younger. What makes me so different is that I did not fall in love with the game until my 8th-grade year in Middle School. Before I get started, let me first start off by saying that I am a military brat, we have moved seventeen times and I am only fifteen years old. With that being said, I know what it is like to be flexible and resilient to many things. My dad is still on Active Duty service, as a matter of fact, he will be deploying soon for a year, and he will miss my whole sophomore year of High School. My mom and my dad have always influenced me to always do my best in everything I do. I would not be the person I am today if it was not for my mom and my dad.
My parents keep me grounded and I am not easily discouraged. The reason why I say that is because, when my dad puts that uniform on, he is going out there to fight every day for us. The attitude he has is like no other. I exude that same type of attitude as a young leader. When I first started playing, I will have to admit, I was not that good. My mom asked me one day, did I want to be good or great. I told her I wanted to be great. She told me to go out there and get it because the only person that can take it away from me was me, so I went out there and started practicing, and guess what, I got better.
My collegiate goals and aspirations are to play basketball in college and to one day play in the WNBA. I am a good candidate because I am a hard worker. What makes me different than all the other recruits is my flexibility and always wanting to improve my game. When I am not practicing new skills, I have my head in the books. I have a 4.0 GPA and failure is not an option for me. I don’t have a lot of off days because I am preparing myself for the next level and the one after that.
