I'm working to be a college athlete when the time comes. I've been training and involved in some type of sport since I was a very young girl. I continue to play both basketball and run track as a high school junior.
As a starter on a very good Glen Allen basketball team I played a major role in helping win the first girls basketball regional championship in school history as a freshman.
I helped the team get to a state regional semi-final appearance as a sophomore. I had a really good sophomore season at Glen Allen. I received 1st team All-Region (VHSL Class 5C), 2nd team All-State (VHSL Class 5C) and 3rd team all-metro (Richmond Times Dispatch). I also was voted best defensive player on my team for the second year in a row. Normally I was tasked with shutting down the other team's best player.
As a junior I took on more of a leadership and scoring role as well as continuing to apply defensive pressure. I was named 1st Team All-Region (VHSL Class 6A) where I had 6 double doubles, 3 triple doubles. I was also 1st in steals, 2nd in assists, top 10 in points per game, and 12th in rebounding (according to MaxPreps stats).
As a senior my leadership and scoring role on the team was very important to our state-quarterfinal run. I was named 1st Team All-Region (VHSL Class 6A) .
Here are a few quotes from sites that covered our team over the past 3 years:
"She opened up the week guarding a senior D1 commit, her defensive pressure frustrated the player into turnovers, difficult shot selection and blocked her twice on the 3pt line. One of the best performances I have seen all year" - PrepGirlsHoops.com Jan 16, 2022
"One of four freshmen to earn their spot on the varsity roster, Brennan said Worsham started the season with some nerves and could be timid to shoot. But she’s developed throughout the year and has been playing 'lights out' defense for the past month." - Richmond Times Dispatch Feb 25, 2022
"Glen Allen's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sydney Worsham, who dropped a triple-double on 16 points, ten assists, and ten steals. Worsham hasn't dropped below 15 points for four straight games." - MaxPreps.com Feb 05 2024
"Sydney Worsham was dynamite on Thursday, dropping a triple-double on 12 points, 13 rebounds, and ten assists. As if that's not impressive enough, the matchup was her fifth in a row with three or more steals. This season, Worsham has averaged 16.1 points, 6.2 steals, and 7.2 rebounds per contest." - MaxPreps.com Feb 21 2024
"Glen Allen's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sydney Worsham, who scored 23 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. Worsham is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last seven games she's played." - MaxPreps.com Feb 21 2024
"On Friday Sydney Worsham dropped a triple-double on 13 points, ten rebounds, and ten assists. The performance marked the most assists Worsham has had since back in February of 2024. As if that's not impressive enough, the match was also her fifth in a row with three or more steals. This year, she has averaged 11.8 points, 4.2 steals, and 4.2 assists." - MaxPreps.com Feb 3, 2025
"Sydney Worsham was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 24 points and ten rebounds. The match was her third in a row with at least 21 points." - MaxPreps.com Feb 22, 2025
I am fast on the court, make hustle plays, and developing a pretty good mid-range jumper. I believe my training and track speed helps in all sports I play.
Academics are going to be key to me being able to choose where I want to go to college. I have 3.8 GPA with my academic workload consisting of honors and AP classes.
I believe that my athleticism, work ethic and skillset combined with my academic work will help me achieve my goal of being able to play the game at whatever college I choose.
