I am an excellent student with a current gpa of 3.98. As a junior I am taking running start courses with the intent of entering college with approximately one year of pre-requisites completed.
At an early age I began playing soccer and moved into the local select program as soon as I was age eligible. I also played basketball at an early age and moved to a select team in sixth grade. I played competitive soccer and basketball for a year but, chose to focus on basketball beginning in seventh grade. I have played on four different AAU basketball teams starting in fifth grade. I have regularly participated in individual and group trainings, tournaments, and 3 on 3 tournaments since focusing on basketball. In the last couple years I have played year round with only short breaks between basketball events. In high school, I decided to play tennis for fun. In my first full year I swung to varsity for three matches and won them all.
While playing and practicing basketball, I work to keep any negative emotions to myself and work with teammates when emotions try to get the best of them. On the court, I am a very unselfish and decisive player; I know when to dish it to a teammate and when I should try scoring. Additionally, I have some hearing loss in both ears and wear hearing aids off the court. This has made me focus intensely, observing small details and body language of other people. I believe this has helped me to become a very focused basketball player.
I seek advice and listen intently when I'm being coached. I'm big on creating supportive and positive team environments. My goal is to become a solid contributor and a key component to a college basketball team. I know I have a lot more work to do but, with hard work and perseverance I believe I will succeed.
