Abbie Bartenslager '19 Recruiting Profile

I am a 5’7” sophomore shooting guard playing for a Triple A High School in Lewisburg, WV. I also play soccer as a defensive midfielder. I offer my teammates support to facilitate plays through my constant chatter on the field/court. My goal is to play basketball on a collegiate level.

Being in a rural community that embraces the value of hard work and good basketball, it only made sense for me to pursue my love of competitiveness and basketball. In this path I have risen to a starter for the Greenbrier East Lady Spartan’s Girls Basketball Team and was named Defensive Player of the Year(2017) at GEHS.

Basketball is really just the start for me. Living in the small community of Lewisburg, WV, agriculture is major component of daily life. I live on a livestock farm and I have been active in 4H showing livestock. This has instilled a work ethic in me that won’t take to losing or giving up. I am active in my church and community. Finding time to ensure that school comes first as evidenced by my 3.8 GPA.

I am always looking forward to my next step in life to better myself. After my time at Greenbrier East High School, I would prefer to attend a larger University while pursuing my passion for playing basketball. Although I am not sure of the career path that I will pursue, I am interesting in Accounting and the Medical Field. Athletic and academic scholarships will assist my looking at any school, no matter the geographical area.
