Dear Coaches, Hi, my name is Kelly Calhoun and I just finished my junior year playing at Monona Grove High School. We had an excellent season, going 20-3, and winning our first conference championship in 20 years. I was named First Team All-Conference by conference coaches, Honorable Mention All-Area, and received the Coach's Award for leading our team in assists again for the third straight year. Playing primarily point guard and shooting guard, my strengths on offense are; running the offense, seeing the floor, quickly getting the ball to my teammates who are in scoring position, and taking good shots. I also look to establish an inside - outside presence on offense. I take a lot of pride in my defensive ability. Our varsity team plays a variety of defenses, the majority is man to man. I am routinely asked to guard our opponents top perimeter players. I feel that my aggressive play and pressure on the ball is a valuable weapon in our team's defensive play. I love the challenge of playing defense! This summer, I am playing for the Wisconsin Academy 17U program, in addition to playing on two of our high school's summer varsity teams. Our Wisconsin Academy team plays in major tournaments throughout the Midwest this spring and summer and I enjoy the travel and tough competition in order to improve my game. I also work on-on-one during the summer with the head women's coach at Madison College in order to improve and refine my game. In the fall, I will be running on our Varsity Cross Country Team for the 4th straight year, and will again play fall ball, in order to prepare for my senior year. I love to play basketball. I have been playing since I was 5 years old and feel very fortunate to have had some excellent coaches along the way who taught me the fundamentals and how to play the game. I enjoy learning about the game, and work hard in order to keep improving my level of play. When you are considering recruits for 2013, I hope you will look at all the positives I can bring to your program. I am looking for a college that has Dental Hygienist, as a major. I would like to attend a campus that offers a good quality of life, with a great surrounding community. My hope is to join a team that works hard, competes hard, and has fun. I would love to have a coach who instructs me and challenges me to improve my game. I want to make a difference. Thank you for your interest in me, Kelly Calhoun
