Alexandra Chiew '24 Recruiting Profile

I am a committed and hard working athlete that is determined to continuously improve my game. 

When I was 14, my dad took me out golfing for the first time when the COVID pandemic had stopped other activities. At the time, I was a gymnast and a competitive volleyball player, so I was unable to train in either sport during that time. My dad tried to take me out once every week since there was not much to do at the time. I was finding success in gymnastics, and worked really hard until the pandemic had forced all gymnasts, as well as volleyball players to stop training until further notice.

I did not start competitive golf until I was 16 (2022) mainly due to the fact that I was finding success in both gymnastics and volleyball. I decided that I would give golf a chance, and I haven't looked back since. I have shown resilience and perseverance during difficult times, and I always do my best to keep a positive attitude. This season, I have placed in 9 tournaments, and I will continue to refine my game to place and win more tournaments in the future. 

During the off season, I train with my team and coach (REIMERgolf). I find that I learn a lot from my fellow teammates, and this has made me appreciative of the team aspect of golf. I help motivate my team while also learning from their experiences. It is because of this that I am looking for a supportive team that I can learn from and cheer on as well. 

Golf has definitely had an impact on my life outside of the course. I have grown more resilient and patient, which has had immense effects on my character. Specifically, these traits have affected my co-curriculars (RCM Level 10 piano and vice president of Peer Support). I believe with my work ethic and positive attitude, I am hoping this would make me an ideal candidate.
