Personal Statement

I began playing golf at the age of four, and fell in love with the game! Ever since then, I have been determined to improve and attempt to perfect and imperfect game. I strive to better my abilities each and every day. At the age of nine, I began local tournaments and became involved in a local match play program. When I turned 12, I started playing bigger tournaments through the Junior Golf Association of Northern California (JGANC). I have enjoyed competing in these tournaments across California and meeting new people along the way. I began taking lessons from Greg Silva at River Oaks Golf Course as a child, but as I progressed and became more competitive with my game, I transferred coaches to Shane Balfour, the Executive Director of JGANC. I have been a Varsity Scholar Athlete since my freshman year and have had the honor of holding the number one spot on our team since my freshman year as well. I have also won League MVP for the CCC league two years in a row. I have qualified for post season each year and have advanced to the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section and CIF Sac-Joaquin Masters Tournaments. Golf has taught me to be motivated and committed to improvement both on and off the course. The game has forced me to focus on one shot at a time and I have taken this idea into other parts of my life. Besides golf, I am deeply involved in academics and community service and wish to carry my passions on as I advance into a bigger and better part of my life. I am a dedicated, hard-working, and positive player who puts one hundred percent into everything I pursue. I look forward to playing competitive college golf in the future, while expanding my academics and continuing my passions. Thank you, Taylor.
