My name is CheyAnne Schrick and I want to be a D1 golfer. The first club I swang was from a plastic set which I received as a present from my parents on my 4th birthday. The set came with three clubs and a putter as well as rubber golf balls which I would take outside and practice with, my goal being to reach the end of the driveway. I started taking group lessons when I was 7, private lessons when I was 9, and have played tournament golf since I was 10. Golf has been something that has shaped my life in every way and allowed me to build my identity on and off the course. Over the years, I have learned so much from golf and my competition. I have had so many experiences traveling in United States and soon abroad. From playing the bermuda grass of Pinehurst to the bentgrass here in Colorado I have had so much fun learning how to play in different conditions, which I would love to someday continue in part of being a player on a college team.
My golf career is the most important thing to me, but I also love to have fun outside the golf course, whether with friends or family, I always seem to have something to do. I love to paint and draw and I take a lot of pride in my academics. I have maintained a 4.1 GPA so far in my high school career as a sophomore, while balancing golf as well as being a member of the National Honors Society, the National Art Honors Society, Family, Carrer and Community Leaders of America, the National Society of High School Scholars as well as cheer as a member of our school's Unified Cheer Team.
Throughout my golf career, I have had the opportunity to see so many golf courses across the country and play in high-level competition tournaments. I have played the Worlds at Pinehurst 3 years in a row, played at IMG in Torrey Pines, the Optimist at Trump Doral, and most recently placed in the top 20 at Notah Begay in Louisiana. I have been taking private lessons with my coach Trent Wearner for almost 5 years and have been training to build muscle with Dee Tidwell for around a year and a half. I play Colorado Junior Golf PGA events as a member of the Cup series and plan to play in more AJGA and US Kids Teen Series events throughout this upcoming season. I will be playing local tournaments for my high school golf team at Timnath High School and am team captain. Last year as a freshman I made first team All Conference as well as first team All State and took 4rth place at my State event. This year I hope to do even better and I am looking forward to what the future will bring!
