Gigi Zera '24 Recruiting Profile

Hi my name is Gigi Zera and I am in the class of 2024 at Loyola Academy in Wilmette, Illinois. I would like to play college golf so that I can continue my love and passion for this sport. For the last 11 years of my life, I have competed in primarily local and regional tournaments, and would consider myself to be a dedicated, disciplined and self-motivated athlete. In addition to playing high school golf, I also play varsity basketball, and have earned a black belt in karate. My participation in these sports, has made me a stronger golfer both mentally and physically. Mentally, I have learned to handle adversity and maintain a positive and patient outlook throughout a round. Physically, my athleticism translates through core strength, balance, and swing speed.

While I’ve played competitive golf for 11 years, my time had been split between practicing two sports I love: basketball and golf. After my junior year, I made a conscious decision to dedicate myself to my golf game because I realized I enjoyed it more and wanted to fully commit to it. While my competitive resume may be a little behind my peers, I know that my work ethic, competitive drive, and other athletic experiences will help accelerate my golf  performance.

Academically, I have learned time management skills and have challenged myself with more difficult classes as my high school career progressed. Junior year I took two honors classes and senior year I will take two honors and two AP classes.

With golf as my main priority, I know that my best golf is ahead of me, and I will thrive as a contributing member for whatever college program I become a part of. The college team that I commit to will be getting a well rounded and dedicated student athlete who is capable of handling obstacles, working hard, and having fun with teammates along the way!
