Kylia Buis '27 Recruiting Profile

My profile shows my drive as I continue being a hard working student athlete. I am one of the most humble, hardworking, competitive athlete you’ll watch. But my profile doesn’t tell how you I just started playing my freshman year because of an old basketball teammate and how my basketball coach is also my golf coach. It was until the end of my freshman season that I found the love and desire for golf. I set some goals at the beginning of my offseason; practice somehow everyday I can, play in competitive tournaments to get me ready for my sophomore season, and stay on top of my school work. I will be honest school hasn’t came easy for me. I use to use that as an excuse and not try. I have came very far and I have some academics I have to make up but I’m now striving on being on the right track. Athletically I want to continue leading my varisty team. This recent golf season I lead my team in scoring avg(47.1), fairways %, gir%, and putts with a 1.8. I am solid and consistent with my long and short irons and driver. I am always continuing to work on the little things especially short game, while taking lessons and improving my scoring as I go on throughout the next 2 seasons. I think what sets me away from most golfers is my mental game. There is a ton of pressure for being a new leader of your team, especially in a small town. Everyone is just now learning your name, you have all these expectations, coaches leaning on you.  All the stress and pressure I turned into goals. The first match of my sophomore year I medalist with a 44 and I continued to stay consistent and I lead my team in cic with a 92 which is my Pb on 18, And a Pb of 38. I always have loved the pressure and believed hard work always pays off, so I will continue to work harder then everyone to turn my dreams into reality and find a school and team that fits for me
