Personal Statement
How golf has shaped me into the individual I am today. I was first exposed to the game at a tender age of 6 years old. My uncle would bring my elder sister to the driving range and I would just tag along. I fell in love with the sport and I decided I wanted to learn how to play. I started taking lessons and from there I have participated in many tournaments. When I was 15, I was on top form. I felt great and I was everyone’s golden girl. The following year, I experienced a major downfall in my golf. I wasn’t playing well and I wasn’t winning many tournaments. It was hard picking myself up through all the criticism and assumptions said about me. A lot was expected from me. There were many times when I felt like it was not worth it and it would be better if I just gave up. However I knew that it I gave up I would have let a lot of people down and I would have let myself down too. After many months of frustration and tears I managed to pull through and get myself back on track. I fought hard to prove myself once again despite all the harsh words about me that felt like weights weighing me down. Hard work really do not go to waste as I managed to win an international title and proved myself to everyone. I overcame everything. I felt like nothing could ever get in my way again. I have found myself and I realise that this is what I want. I want to play golf. I have grown so much through this sport. Because of this, I believe that I have what it takes to play competitively for a college.
