When I first started golf, I honestly had no idea what I was getting into. Freshman year, I initially tried out for the volleyball team, but unfortunately got cut. Luckily, I had a good friend that recommended the golf team for me. Thankfully, I decided to pick up a club for my first time ever and play highschool golf. Split minute decisions like this one would prove helpful to me throughout my high school career. Freshman year was rough. I remember walking down a fairway with one of my coaches and saying that I wanted to quit. Patiently, he asked why I didn't just quit. I responded that I couldn't because my grandpa had bought me clubs. The summer after freshman year, I golfed every day, and surprisingly, I got better. Sophomore year I wasn't where I wanted to be yet, so once again, during the summer, I golfed every day. Junior year ended very successfully with a state title. Unfortunately, I was alternate, so I did not get to play. Senior year I went out with vengeance and determination to get what I wanted out of my senior season. My senior season was all I could ask for: a state title again and 8th place individually. If someone asked me freshman year if I thought I wanted to play college golf, I would definitely say no, but now I am faced with the realization that I have to leave my team. Although I am sad, I am excited to play golf at the next level. I definitely want to play golf in college now not just because of the rewards coming with golf itself, but I want to be a part of a team.
