My name is Abby Ankenman and I am currently a junior at Orrville High school. I have played on the the boys varsity golf team for now 3 years. When starting golf I thought it was just another sport that could be fun.It has turned into some life lesson, amzaing experiences, and meeting new and exciting people along the way.
When I learned you had to stay under control on the golf course and not make a big deal about how you missed that putt on hole 2, Or you should’ve had a better approach shot on hole 12 It makes you realize golf is 70% mental and 30% skill And in life you have to mentally get yourself out of the way to make it out in the world . I also feel in golf you have to be confident in yourself because no matter if you have taken the shot 1 times or 100 times you have too envision what will happen and at the end of the day you are playing yourself. The only person that can beat you, is you ,if you let yourself.
Along my journey making new friends and having a love for golf grew every year When I ended up making it out for districts now 2 years in a row and getting top 20 in districts. Then a couple weeks later making first team All Northeast Ohio was an unbelievable feeling. So with all that being said, I would want to go somewhere so I could golf all year round and still have a good education.
