Personal Statement
I started golfing when I was five years old because I wanted to be like my older brother, and I played in several summer leagues with him. I also played soccer from age three, eventually playing year-round on school, cup, and indoor teams. However, after my seventh grade season, I decided to give up soccer and focus on golf. I increased the amount of time I worked with my swing coach, and I started to play in more competitions. Today, I play and practice year-round, missing only nine days in the last six months. My perseverance has paid off, and this summer, I was named Tri-State Jr. PGA Player of the Year for girls 16-18.
My high school has only had a girls golf team for four seasons, and as a varsity captain for the past two, my goal has been to, not only improve my game, but also to help my teammates become better players. When I am not golfing, I am involved in SADD, National Honors Society, and Key Club. I also volunteer as an instructor for NIKE Golf Camps.
