Lauren Phelan '25 Recruiting Profile

I didn't start out planning to be a golfer.  I danced from age 3 to 2020 until Covid came along and closed all the studios.  My older brother worked at the local golf course, one of the rare places still open during the pandemic and so I decided to give it a try.  I'm glad I did.  I am a very competitive person by nature and faced with the challenge of beating my brother, I threw everything at it!  I started training with a swing coach and played in tournaments where I placed consistently in the middle of the pack, not right at the bottom as I expected as a beginner.  It didn't take long to get fully hooked on the sport and I haven't looked back since.  My dancing shoes have been retired.

I now work with a swing coach, a speed coach, a workout coach and a mental coach. I play tournaments most weekends and can not imagine doing anything else with my free time. My goal is to play college golf, then begin a long career in the golf industry. I am an extremely driven and self-motivated golfer and I am not afraid of hard work. I won't let anything stop me from reaching my dreams.
