Thank you for taking the time to review my profile and considering me to be an integral part of your golf program. My collegiate goals and aspirations are many. I would love to be afforded the opportunity to enter a collegiate program, where I can acquire a bachelor's degree in any biological or health science that would assist me in pursuing a medical career as a Neurosurgeon. I do have Marketing as a secondary degree option. There were some very impactful tragedies that occurred in my life that has directed me to this path. Additionally, there are many under-served and disenfranchised individuals that, I believe, can be served in a great way, and I intend to answer the call in this area as well. However, my first career choice is to be a Professional Golfer on the LPGA.
I was introduced to the game by my father, who bought me my first toy golf set. At the age of seven, I became member of The First Tee. I was a member for quite some time. I also am a member of the South Texas PGA. I am a multi-sport athlete, having lettered in Basketball, Volleyball, and Cheer. I also have been accepted to the Varsity track team in the throwing events. Being a student-athlete, I have learned how to stay internally motivated and self-driven. I have many goals that I would like to achieve in golf. I am striving to lead our team to state this year. I want to win college conference championships, annually compete for national titles, with the aspirations of turning pro thereafter.
From a metrics perspective, my distances are as follows: Driver: 270 yards (controlled), 300 (70 percent controlled); 6-Iron 215 yards; Pitching Wedge 125. As of January 3, 2019, my club head speed was clocked at 115 mph consistently, and 120 mph at the fastest.
As an aside, Golf has been a sport that has provided a healthy and productive outlet when life did not go so well. My grandmother passed away after a lengthy illness caused by doctor malpractice. It was a total shock and rocked our family immensely. Because of the sleepless nights and endless trips to medical facilities, both in and out of town, my grades slipped. This also coincided with a school transfer from Humble Christian School (private), to Atascocita High School (public). But coming from a faith-based household, and having the outlet of golf, things are very much on the right track and I will graduate with above a 3.0 GPA.
I am certain that you will not have a recruit that is as well-rounded as I am. I volunteer heavily in the community, and I am also a gifted singer. Many of my Sundays find me bringing joy to patients in the children's hospital by singing. I believe I have yet to peak and I also believe that I am about to come into my own, and very excited of what my skill set will yield. We have undergone a coaching change on my high school varsity girls golf team, and my game is responding very well to my new coach and culture.
I look forward to communicating and visiting with you soon. I am in high anticipation of what I will do for your program.
All the best,
Chandler "C.C." Barnum
