Short Game Video ...Personal Statement
My name is Carmen Pate and I am a Junior at Clear Creek High School. I play line 1 on my Varsity Golf Team and I am 1st Chair Viola in the Chamber Orchestra at my high school. I scored a 1310 on my SAT, I’m a straight A student and will continue taking Honors/AP classes going into my junior year.
I participate in STPGA, TJGT, AJGA and in many junior golf tours all over the country. I am currently an Ace Level Participant at The First Tee of Greater Houston. My goal for this year is to bring down my scoring average to lower 70s for 18 holes at 6000+ yards. I would love to play collegiate golf and major in History.
I have been playing golf since I was 3 years old. Over the years, I have had so many ups and downs both on and off the golf course. I have faced much adversity, but with the support of my family, my golf and my music communities, I have been able to persevere through all of it. Through all the struggles, I have learned that things happen. Whether it be good or bad, I understand that the things I do are not the end all be all of my life. I especially try to apply that mindset on the golf course, since that is where I spend the most time. I really try to help my teammates understand that winning and losing is not everything. It’s more important to keep the game fun.

- Won the Girls 16-18 Division shooting 79-82. Played 6000 yards with very wet and windy conditions. Placed 2nd Overall in Girls 14-18 Division. I hit great approach shots, but greens were not receptive and it all came down to the short game. It was a very good experience! I qualified for the NB3 Regional Qualifier in September.
