My name is Samantha Truong. I've been playing golf for 7 years, but I truly realized how important the game was to me when I was about 12. Golf has taught me many things like hard work, patience and sportsmanship. Rather than quitting when I have bad days, I walk back through to see what improvements need to be made. These lessons have also helped me through my other extracurriculars as well.
Although golf has been my life for the past 7 years, I've also participated in other activities. These include: piano, violin, and karate. I'm currently not playing the piano or violin, or participating in karate anymore due to my commitment to golf, but I will always love the two instruments. Golf along with karate has brought upon me the importance of hard work.
School has always been a top priority for me. I've been enrolled in honors classes from the 7th grade up until now. Although I've never been the best at school, I always try my hardest to maintain my 4.5 (out of 6) GPA. My goal in my next two years of high school is to raise my 4.5 to a 5.0 by continuing to take honors classes and AP classes. My current endorsement for school is public services. Some may say "Why that?" but my reasoning is because I've always wanted to help others especially my family. My brother has eczema (a skin condition) which allowed my decision to go into the medical field easier.
Throughout my three years of high school golf, I was ranked top 5 for all three. My freshman year, I was ranked 3 and received the "Freshman of the Year" award, and in my sophomore year, I was ranked 1 and received both the "MVP" and the "Team Captain" awards.
Outside of extracurriculars and school, I've always loved traveling. I began traveling before I could even walk. It's always been my dream to travel back to my home country, Vietnam. I want to be able to appreciate my culture even more than I already do. I want to also visit other countries to learn more about their cultures.
